Tip of the Week
How to stop skying those tee shots
| The main cause for the skied tee shot is the player having too much weight on his left side at impact. Remember, with the irons we want to produce a descending blow by keeping weight on our left side, but with the driver it is more a sweeping action that we require. To do so we need more weight on the right leg (left leg for lefties). Your first 3 checks when diagnosing this problem would be: 1) To check that the ball position is not too far back in your stance 2) Your hands aren't too far forward (they should be slightly behind your driver's head) 3) That your clubface isn't closed. When you are satisfied that the fundamentals are correct, start practice by hitting shots, keeping 60% of your weight on your right leg (left leg for lefties) throughout impact. |

This should shallow out your swing at impact, helping you to find the middle of the club again!
Happy practicing!
