Tip of the Week
| The Fairway Bunker The first and most important thing to remember when playing from a fairway bunker is to select a club with enough loft to clear the face of the trap. If you are unsure, always opt for a more lofted club. You will hit the shot about 20% shorter than if you were playing it from grass, so be sure to take extra club if the option presents itself. • Once you have selected your club, • Address the ball as if you were playing a normal shot, but play the ball slightly forward in your stance • Choke down on the club a little • You may dig your feet into the sand a little for stability, but not too deep. • Now grip the club tightly in your hands; this will restrict your backswing and turn and allow a cleaner strike. |

Remember you are trying to hit the ball as clean as possible so don’t aim at the sand behind the ball as you would with a greenside bunker shot.
