Use your hips in the bunker

Tip of the Week
| The more bunker lessons I give the more I realise that there is one overriding flaw with most peoples bunker technique – they don’t use their hips enough during the shot. Moving your hips through the impact area helps us to achieve a few things: 1) It keeps your divot equal in depth and shallow thereby allowing your club to move through the sand easily 2) It ensures good accelerating through the impact area (essential for good bunker play) 3) It stops the hands from releasing the club through impact – remember you want to try to keep the clubface on line with the target throughout the shot. If you are struggling with bunkers at the moment then get down to the range and concentrate on moving those hips!! |
