Playing from a plugged lie...

From the Team
• Junior Coaching is every Tuesday 15:30 – 16:30 on the driving range. If you would like your kids to come please book your
place by calling the golf shop on 042 2004500.
• Please note that the driving range is closed on Mondays.

Tip Of The Week
I tell everyone I coach to avoid bunkers, don’t go for the flag that’s tucked just over the bunker – play percentage golf and hit to the centre of the green. But if you are one of those players that seems to hit more bunkers than greens then you are probably going to have to play from a plugged lie, here’s how to do it………..

Play the ball back in your stance and hood the clubface of your Sand Wedge or Lob Wedge. Set your feet at a 300 angle left of your intended target line. Take the club away steeply by hinging your wrists and hit down hard behind the ball.

If you execute this shot properly you should have very little or no follow through.

Remember that the ball will come out with little or no spin and will run a good distance once it lands on the green. Make sure you allow for this in your setup – often you won’t be able to go straight for the flag and will have to bail out to one side. Don’t be to greedy just get it out!!!!

Ryan
