Tip of the Week
Uphill Lies
The trick to playing from an uphill or downhill lie is swinging with the slope. Setup with the ball more towards the front of your stance, match your shoulder angle to the slope of the ground and place a little more weight on your right leg. Do a few practice swings trying to follow the slope of the ground before setting up to hit the shot.

Most players pull the ball to the left on uphill lies, because your lower body movement is inhibited by the slope. As a result, the upper body gets ahead of the lower body, causing the swing path to move to the inside on the follow-through, resulting in a shot that starts left of target. To compensate for this, set up with your feet to the right of your intended target line.

Because the ball launches from a higher angle on an uphill lie, it won't carry quite as far so take more club than usual and swing smoothly. Click here to book a lesson today!

Ryan
