Good condition as we enter cooler period

The golf course is still in good condition and as we are entering the cooler period, we will be concentrating a bit on different mowing heights and a small tining of the greens.

The golf course is closed this coming Monday and Tuesday for a mini hollowtining exercise. After a long season the greens get compacted through all the traffic that has gone over them. The process on Monday will entail a deep solid tining of the greens followed by some sand topdressing and then a controlled release fertiliser application. This will ensure that our greens will not get waterlogged during the wet winter period and it will also promote root growth.

The recovery period will be about 10-14 days, but the holes that will be punched into the greens will not be as big as the normal hollowtining of the greens program.

Feel free to contact me should you have any questions and/or concerns regarding this process.

All the best,
Andre Gerber
