During the past week I decided to take some of my frontline staff on a little one day road trip. Sometimes one forgets that some of these guys have never been through the tollgate on your way to George and I thought that this could be a great learning experience for them.

Some of our staff have been here since the construction days, but have never seen another golf course in their lives, except in pictures. For all of them it was an eye opening experience as we visited Pezula, Oubaai and all 3 courses at Fancourt. Here I showed them that what they have been doing on the golf course is almost the same as these courses. For the first time they could see some of our competition and why I always encourage them to do certain things. It was a very fruitful day as everybody walked away with a different picture in their head as to how to lift the standards even higher.

A couple of us also took part in quite extensive fire training a week or two ago. This, in hand with the health and safety course, is just the way we want to add value to the staff compliment here at St. Francis Links. I am not saying that we can now deliver babies and cure any disease, but we have been given good enough training to ensure that all visitors, members and homeowners can feel at ease with all that the staff at the Links have got to offer to make you feel at ease.

We will continue to uplift our staff to ensure that they also have a great experience working here at the Links. Like we always say “A happy employee is a great employee”.
