Winter Projects
Winter projects...
Well, we have been waiting for this period for a while now. We have jumped in and started to do some alterations to the creek bed at # 10. Over the past year or so the reeds and the wetlands have crept closer and closer to the green, creating a visual problem for most players. The bunkers could not be seen and the shorter hitter had no chance of playing over the reeds to a left hand side pin position. By creating a better landing area, more golfers can now reach a safe, playable position on the left hand side of the fairway.
We also tackled a little, manmade dune on the 4th hole. When playing off the normal club tee, it was difficult to see all the bunkering to the right of the green. As we all know, with a strong westerly almost 70% of balls end up in these bunkers. Imagine if you were playing for the first time and you thought that you hit a good shot, only to find that your ball landed in one of the biggest bunker complexes on the course – without you even seeing it off the tee... I would not be too happy, thus the reason for this small alteration.
Keep watching this space for more information as to what is happening on the course and what else is planned over the next couple of months.
All the best,
Andre Gerber
