Golf Data Corner

Club Champs weekend is around the corner and I thought of giving you all a bit of inside information to what you can expect from your golf course when you step onto the first tee during this time:

- We have gone around all the bunkers to ensure that there are no funny places that a ball can get stuck.
- Sand has been added to some bunkers.
- The fairways, tees and green surrounds have been cut a bit tighter so that you can get the real Links feeling.
- We are trying to get some more speed out of the greens after all the rain, but be sure that they will be as true as any greens you have played on.
- The rough will be mowed the whole time to make sure that you do not end up in some thick areas just off the fairway.

I have always been a firm believer that the course should play the same as the rest of the year when it comes to Club Camps. A lot of clubs put pins in all the toughest positions, tees as far back as possible, greens so quick like they’ve never been and roughs grown up to penalize the odd misjudged shot. This is not what the members are used to and I always want to give the member a course that they are used to playing all year round.

So all you have to do now is concentrate on the following couple of things in the picture beside and it should all work out just fine for you. Good luck this weekend and I hope you will enjoy your golf.

All the best,
Andre Gerber
