| Keith Donaldson, formally a trained firefighter from Northern Ireland (now a resident in SFB), was hired by our management team at St Francis Links to conduct a training course for our estate managers and supervisors. I participated in the training and am thoroughly glad I did! A couple of months ago we had fires in the dunes above the port road and our guys from St Francis Links were right there to help with our little pumper trailer, hoses and manpower. That fire was contained and no lives were risked in the end. While I first came to know Keith and his wife Shelly on a personal basis, it was his professional history that prompted our interest |

Health and Safety
While one group was putting out fires, another was learning how to provide the correct health and safety measured needed and required in the workplace. Employees from the Clubhouse operations attended and completed the First Level course provided.
Course Maintenance – How Good Are We?
I have always professed that my best ideas usually come from something I see somewhere else. If you don’t get out and see what others are doing, how can you get better – how do you compare? Well, I also believe that we have something very special HERE and others can and do learn from us. That being said, it does not mean we cannot learn more. Remember what my friend LG said, “Every day, in every way, I am getting better and better!” That’s why Estate Maintenance Manager, Andre Gerber (see Perfect Fairways and Greens below), took a number of his ‘operators’ on the road to see how other great courses get it done. Off early in the morning, they travelled up the coast to the Garden Route for a day of learning. I think it was a very good exercise for all.

Green Drought!
With water restrictions in place throughout the region and some parts of the Eastern Cape being declared a disaster area due to very low potable water supplies in storage dams, I want to first thank the resident homeowners for their significant reduction in water usage. Our weekly readings (every Thursday) and reports to you (every Friday) have served to assist you in seeing what is being consumed. Our recent rains have certainly helped to return our yards and verges to a wonderful condition; however, we are nowhere near being out of the woods. Our dams on the estate are full, our overflow dams are full – and we are busy doing more maintenance on the borehole pumps (while they are shut off) to ensure good working order when they are needed. Please continue your efforts to conserve water and energy wherever and whenever you can.

Food And Beverage Breaks All Records!
I know I sound like a broken record, but when the team is ‘cooking’ – literally, cooking, and I must sound off! We have goals at St Francis Links and those goals help us to realise our overall philosophy – by providing quality service and products that accompany
| our fantastic amenities, we will bring new faces to the estate that just might become our next investors and homeowners in the future. The team IS performing and our functions are not only successful – they are helping to create ‘memories of a lifetime’. I am only adding one proviso to next year’s wedding and function requirements – all guest’s MUST say hello to Jack! He is ready and waiting not just for half of the attendees, but for all. March and April were budget-beating months at St Francis Links – six months into the financial year we are ahead on all fronts; with our new ranking and this crackerjack team, we will continue to ignore the “R” word. PS… more home building plans are coming in – where are yours! | ![]() Jack's Waiting, Too! |
