World-Class Start To The World Cup!

Earlier in the week, I was on the phone with business associates (and friends) from Houston, Texas. They commented on how good South Africa was coming over on ESPN USA. At every commercial break, ESPN and South Africa offered visual tour, a cultural walk and a truly, great look at our good side of life! With a flawless Opening Ceremony, a seamless start to the World Cup, an exciting opening match and a draw for the tournament’s best TWO teams! South Africa is broadcasting to the world – the world is watching. I hope that when it’s all over, everyone will want to come HERE!

We filled the bar with fans for the Opening ceremonies and match. We roared when Tshabalala rifled in the first goal for South Africa and the tournament. We offered bar specials, boerie’s on the braai and big screens with big sound! We will continue that throughout the tournament. Come and FEEL IT with us.

Pebble Beach hosts the US OPEN (and Ernie’s paired with Lee and Tigger)

Why not breakfast at the Club this weekend and watch the US Open!

If you can’t stay up and watch the South Africans - Ernie Els, Retief Goosen, Tim Clark, Trevor Immelman, David Frost, Brendon De Jonge, Charl Schwartzel, Louis Oosthuizen, Rory Sabbatini and Deane Pappas, then we will tape it for you and you can watch in the morning! We’ll make the coffee and the breakfast and you can park off near the fireplace with the best golf on the best course in America – Pebble Beach! And since US television is still so enamored with the Tigger, you’ll get to see even more of Ernie (outplaying Tigger) and the hottest player in golf right now, Lee Westwood. Pebble Beach is awesome. Jack Nicklaus rates the 8th hole as the best par-four in golf. Holes 8, 9 and 10 may be the best three, par-4’s in a row – and the most demanding. The 17th has yielded two of the best shots of all time when Jack Nicklaus adjusted his 1-iron swing in mid-swing and hit the pin; Tom Watson holed out from behind the green for 2 (then birdied 18 to beat Mr. Nicklaus by two) from the deep rough – better yet, he called the shot! You all have seen the shot or seen the replay as first he holes it and then he runs across the green pointing back to caddy, Bruce Edwards, saying to him and the world, "I told you so"! It’s the US Open at Pebble Beach. I guess I had better tell you or you would forget it with all that is happening here!

The 7th

Oh, by the way, last weekend we (South Africa) mauled the French in Newlands on Saturday (rugby) and Dale Steyn became the fourth fastest bowler in history to take 200 test wickets as the Proteas (cricket) blew away the Windies in 4 days!
