Until you have been to J-Bay for the BillabongPRO, you haven’t seen one of the greatest sporting spectacles in the world! Ride the wave of the World Cup success and make time to come. On the days that you can’t be there, follow the action live – heat for heat – on the website (be careful not to cap out your internet!). 2009 World ASP Tour Champion, Mick Fanning, will lead the way, with current number ONE and 9-time World Champion, Kelly Slater, back to repeat his amazing performance from 2008. Note: Kelly is a keen golfer, a 3-handicapper and loves playing golf at St Francis Links – he spent as much time here as he spent in the water! Last year’s Champion, Joel (Parko) Parkinson, needs no introduction and he’ll be back. But all eyes may be on local favorite and World Number 2, Jordy Smith. He’s off to a flying start to the year. The bottom line-you don’t have to be a surfer to appreciate what is coming to our back yard – in the water and on our fairways! It’s just one more reason to be here – your home and your home away from home!

OK… I’m no bookie!
Last week, I made my predictions and missed by 75%... OH, WELL, Spain got through on marginal play, Ghana was sc^*#@D by another HANDBALL. I guess Maradona, Thierry Henry and now Suarez will all end up playing handball together somewhere someday.

One thing is for sure… the game got me – it got me good! From the slick ball movement to the hard tackles to the Broadway falls, from good reffing to bad, from the drums and songs to the drumming out by the VuVuzelas and from the fans who dressed and painted the part to the police who came in and made it all so wonderfully safe, we all won the World Cup! SA produced the most fans ever to watch, they made history in hosting a pheniominal showcase of sporting talent and we got to see it live – some of us any way. So I picked one finalist from the lot – Spain. They completely dominated the Germans on Wednesday night. They will join the Dutch who managed to win their match against Uruguay hands DOWN. This weekend is HD weekend in the Clubhouse with 9h30 coverage of the Springboks battling New Zealand down under; The Tour de France will move to the mountains, those not going through to PE for Uraguay and Germany can stay warm and cozy here and the Sunday final will be overflowing in Jack’s Bar as Spain and the Netherlands will make history in a history-making World Cup!
