And the Beat goes On!

For a number of years, both at Fancourt and later at Pezula, I had the opportunity to host the Golf Club Managers from the Western Cape as they got away from their home Clubs for a couple of days of workshops, golf and camaraderie. They were always good because good ideas came forth, problems (opportunities) were discussed and solutions followed, great speakers educated us on everything from industrial action and human resources to economic trends and good motivation. I can still see Larry Gould getting everyone to stand and shout in unison, Every Day in Every Way, I am Getting Better and Better! Every Day in Every Way, I am Getting Better and Better! Every Day in Every Way, I am Getting Better and Better!

This year, 20 friends in the industry made their way here to St Francis Links for more workshops, golf, good food and drink and of course, camaraderie. We played here twice and the Bay once. Larry did his thing again (at my request), the speakers were good and
I am sure we have sent back another special group of Ambassadors to spread the word about St Francis Links! Before the managers left on Thursday, they had experienced their golf, the canals, the breakfasts, lunches and dinners in perfect weather – four days of perfect weather. I sent them home with pictures of the course, club and the estate (as requested), posters to put up outlining our packages and a voucher for golf to give away when the occasion suited them. Some of the guys went to Humewood to experience our other neighbor in the “deal” CLICK HERE and the rest either got a pampering in the Aqua Spa or toured the canals with Brian Cunningham on his new deck boat.

They'll be back their members totaling more than 20, 000 will come because the managers will share their stories of satisfaction and stress-relief! As I said goodbye, they acted as though it had all come to a close too soon! From Clovelly to Worcester and Steenberg to Simon's Town, Rondebosch and Mowbray to Westlake and Devonvale, they came and they enjoyed St Francis Bay and St Francis Links. Bring it on, Boys! We're ready for them!
Where you might expect to find a Club Manager when on the course!

Speaking of Boys…
Keegan (Bongi) takes it back (naturally left handed) and through…Whooooosh!

My good friend Arthur Collett just celebrated a birthday (Happy, Happy)! During the call to congratulate him, he told me about his son and daughter’s golf lessons with fellow Professional, John Dixon, at Durban CC. Keegan is left handed and a natural – note the œstill head position throughout the swing. His Dad could learn from that… I’m not sure about the split hand grip, though. Watch this space!

Moral: You can take up golf and learn at any age. This is my 50th year in golf and I am still learning (I probably have forgotten more than most of you have learned). However, play the game like a kid. When you fall, get up and go again. They don’t care who is watching – they just want another go at greatness! Play every shot with a smile!

Because we CAN (and he CAN)!
Warren loves Taryn. They both love playing golf. What better place to propose than on our 16th green where she finds her ring in the cup! We set up a little table on 17 with bubbles for them and the rest is – will be history in the making. Thanks, Lindsay, for the pics and the accompanying note!

Hi Jeff

“Just wanted to say thanks to you, Liezl and the staff for the lovely setting you organised for Taryn and Warren's engagement. The table was beautiful.

Taryn and Warren are very grateful for the effort put into their special day from the St Francis Links staff; A very special memory which they will treasure for a long time. Taryn was swept off her feet! Here are pictures of the happy couple!

Once again, thanks very much!!” ~

Have a great weekend!
Jeff
