Tour Operators, Handicap Cards And Sandy Cunningham!

Tour Operators, Handicap Cards And Sandy Cunningham!

On Tuesday we had the pleasure of hosting Wolfgang Pinder and a small group of German journalists representing various golf and sporting magazines. Wolfgang is one of the foremost tour operators from Germany and is responsible for bringing thousands of tourists to our shores. It was their first visit to St Francis Links and they were well and truly blown away! (Fortunately not by the wind!) They played in perfect conditions on a perfect golf course and loved every minute of it. One of the journalists said to me that when he comes back to SA again (this was his first time to the country) he would definitely make a visit to St Francis Bay his number one priority. Let’s hope this is the start of a relationship that will see many more German golfers making the trip to St Francis Bay to play our masterpiece.

The handicap system has been a hot topic of debate over the past few months with the South African Golf Association assuming control from NGN. For those of you that have been having trouble using your golf handicap card please be advised that the SAGA are in the process of issuing new cards to the entire golfing community countrywide. We have not yet received the new cards but have been assured that they will be with us in the next few weeks. If you would like your new card posted to you, please email us on This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it . You will now be required to swipe your handicap card upon registration in the Golf Shop; this will automatically open a round for you that will need to be inputted once your round has been completed.

St Francis Links has a new champion golfer… Sandy Cunningham! She has been playing unbelievable golf; she recently represented St Francis Links at the Sanlam Cancer Challenge Regional Finals at Uitenhage GC. She proceeded to win the event and a ticket to the National Final to be held at Sun City in late October! She will be competing on both the Gary Player CC and Lost City courses over the two day final, let’s keep our fingers crossed that she wins and becomes our first National Champion! But there is more… after qualifying she returned to St Francis Links and won our Wednesday competition by posting the highest ever Individual Stableford score of 46 points! She had 28 points on the back 9 with a blackout on the 10th. I will leave you to do the math… Go Sandy!

Regards,
Ryan
