Great functions draw attention – good attention!

The Algoa FM Golf Day at St Francis Links was a major success. Clients and listeners (who qualified for the day by entering a competition) filled the course on Thursday. Most of the participants arrived in two luxury coaches after their hosts Daron Mann and Neil Bisseker entertained with sports quizzes and stories along the way. It rained early in the morning (31mm) and stopped before anyone arrived. The course was in mint condition and the weather gods did their part to ensure great memories from the course. The scores reflected the perfect conditions and our praises were being sung by all! Following the day, Daron and Neil sang our praises during the Morning Show on Algoa FM. Considering the number of SMS’s that I received, I would say their listenership is pretty good.

For nearly a month before the event, we featured on Algoa FM, marketing everything here from golf to conferencing to accommodation and weddings (of course). In return, we put on a great day for them – a win-win situation! A number of our members were invited to play - Scott Keevy fired a 71 gross and his fourball came second. Anton Prinsloo was also invited – his team came third! Anton shot 70 gross, playing partner Lyle Rowe had 68 and the fourball made 17 birdies and two eagles!!!

Old Mutual Conference – “We’ll Be Back”
More than 60 people spent the weekend on the estate for their annual awards banquet. Most arrived on Friday and departed after breakfast on Sunday. All of them were “smoked” by the facilities, the staff and the food! I played the role of Emcee and had the pleasure of introducing my good friend and OM legendary advisor, Gideon duPlessis, as their guest speaker. The black-tie evening followed the Shark Attack on Western Province… amazing how many sharks are on shore in the Eastern Cape!

Most of the guests were here with their partners; as we said good-bye to them on Sunday morning after breakfast, almost every person made a point of saying “we’ll be back”. Well done, Team!
