Happy 2011! Make this the best year of your LIFE!!

St Francis Links – Holiday 2010
The Bay was a buzz over the holiday period and St Francis Links was the center of attention playing host to great events, golfers, members and friends from the community, the region and the entire country!

Our staff excelled as we produced the equivalent of three months business in three weeks – I just kept saying, “hang in there, it’s time to shine – we will sleep in January!”

On New Year’s Eve the Clubhouse team, supported by some members of the estate team, brought in the New Year for more than 260 happy revelers. Our “one for all - all for one” approach to the evening had everyone working to the end – until “humpty dumpty” was back on the wall and the Club was ready for business as normal on the 2nd. That meant everything had to be cleaned, all furniture for the event removed and the deck and clubhouse put back as usual. At midnight, we toasted the New Year and at 5h30, we toasted a job well done. That event was just one of the many functions that allowed us to embrace the community by offering a host of family options for entertainment in the holidays.

The welcome drinks at 6pm and the staff “finished” at 5am

Simon and Garfunkel performed on the 23rd, the Beatles re-united on the 27th, Barry Hilton and Gino Fabbri had them all roaring on the 28th and Glen Webster filled in all of the gaps! Rain played its part, as usual, but unlike some holidays, Christmas Day and New Year’s Day turned out to be “stunners” allowing everyone to embrace our fantastic beaches and coastline. AHHHH, what a place to be – for the holiday – for a lifetime!

Oh, Yeah!
During the Holiday, Ernie won the SA Open, Louis, the African Open, the dollar stayed below R7, Oz flooded and the Vaal too; South Africa drew the test series with India – Kallis was our star – Steyn too; Santa had one minor mishap as Donner was “bliksomed” by Blixen and he was forced to skip parts of Australasia (if SA wins the rugby World Cup) he promised to make it to New Zealand next year.

Next week…predictions for 2011 – SA Open, anyone?

Regards,
Jeff
